Fallujah Update
Story aired: Monday, May 03, 2004

At least one U.S. soldier was killed in an attack by Iraqi insurgents in Baghdad today and violence yesterday across the country killed at least nine more.

In the Iraqi city of Najaf, U.S forces have come under intense mortar fire from insurgents, presumably supporters of renegade Shiite cleric Moktada al-Sadr, who's holed up in that city.

Meanwhile, the situation in the city of Fallujah, where battles raged for the past month, remains difficult to get a handle on.

For an update on the latest on what is happening in this city of 30,000 residents, we speak with Reuters Reporter Joseph Logan, who has just returned from there.
