Likud Party Rejects Sharon Settlement Plan

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon suffered a decisive loss yesterday as 60 percent of voters in his own Likud Party rejected Sharon's plan for Israel to withdraw from the Gaza Strip.

Sharon has called for Israeli soldiers and all 7500 Jewish settlers to leave Gaza, a move supported by a majority of the general Israeli population.
