Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. John Kerry. (AP)
Presidential Election Small Donors
Story aired: Tuesday, May 04, 2004

It appears the little guy is now playing a bigger role in American politics. An analysis of campaign ledgers shows that during the month of March, President Bush raised 39 percent of his campaign financing from donors writing checks for under $200.

That same month, Senator John Kerry raised even more money from small donors than the president.

Guests:

Steve Weissman, associate director for policy at the Campaign Finance Institute.
