Henry Mancini Stamp
Henry Mancini
Story aired: Monday, June 07, 2004

Sometimes it's the simple melody that makes a song so powerful and memorable.

"Moon River," from the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's," is one of the most recorded songs in music history, with over a thousand different versions.

"Moon River" is just one of hundreds of pieces written by the late composer Henry Mancini, who died 10 years ago at the age of 70.

Mancini's life is being celebrated by the U.S. Postal Service, which has introduced a new Mancini postage stamp, and by the recording industry, with several new Mancini CDs.

Guests:

James Isaacs, music reviewer.
