Terror Threat Intelligence
Story aired: Tuesday, August 03, 2004

Government officials are softening their tone today regarding the latest terror threat.
On Sunday, Americans were told that Al Qaeda suspects had recently carried out practice "attack" runs on the Prudential building in Newark. Today federal officials said that information was incorrect.

Officials are also saying most of the information recently seized from a terrorist operative in Pakistan is years old.

Guests:

Doug Jehl, The New York Times.
