Terrorist Arrests in Pakistan
Story aired: Wednesday, August 04, 2004

Pakistani authorities today announced the capture on July 25th of two South African men, who were allegedly in Pakistan plotting attacks on their own country. Pakistan claims to have arrested at least 6 Al Qaeda suspects in recent weeks, including the two disclosed in the weekends terror alerts.

But while Pakistan claims to be cracking down on Al Qaeda, officials in neighboring Afghanistan complain that Pakistan is harboring and training Islamic militant members of the Taliban.

To prove it, they allowed journalists, including New York Times correspondent Carlotta Gall to interview a 17 year old prisoner.

Guests:

Carlotta Gall, New York Times.
