"We Don't Live Here Anymore," Film Review Story aired: Friday, August 13, 2004
Cruelty between couples, sordid affairs, and the gradual dissolution of love have driven countless works of fiction. In the '70s and '80s especially, stories about the ugly side of relationships became very personal, cutting close to the bone in the works of author's like Raymond Carver, Joyce Carol Oats, Tobias Wolf, and Andre Dubus.Three of Dubus' novellas have inspired a new film, "We Don't Live Here Anymore," and Here & Now film reviewer Ted Barron thinks director John Curren took a pretty big risk when he signed on to adapt the movie. It stars Naomi Watts, Peter Krauss, Laura Dern, and Mark Ruffalo.
