Activists Questioned
Story aired: Tuesday, August 17, 2004

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is knocking on doors around the country to learn whatever it can about possible security threats to the Republican National Convention. The FBI has a list of individuals it believes might have information about plans for violent or criminal demonstrations. But it appears some of the people being interviewed are simply peaceful protestors. The American Civil Liberties Union has accused the bureau of harassment, warning that the investigations could have a "chilling effect" on demonstrators who exercise their right to free speech.

We speak with Sarah Bardwell, an intern for the American Friends Service Committee in Denver, who was visited by the FBI last Thursday.
