U.S. warplanes have dropped bombs near a cemetery in the Iraq holy city of Najaf, even as a delegation of Iraqi leaders from the national conference in Baghdad arrived with a peace proposal to rebel cleric Moqtada al-Sadr.

For an update, we speak with John Burns, a reporter for the New York Times who is in Baghdad.
