President Bush, Sept 5. (AP)
Poll Shows Bush Lead
Story aired: Monday, September 06, 2004

Newsweek reports that President George W. Bush now holds an 11-point lead over Democratic challenger Senator John Kerry.

The numbers come after last week's Republican National Convention in New York, perhaps reflecting the "bounce" analysts say they expect after a convention.

The Bush campaign appears cautiously optimistic but the Kerry camp is said to be changing its strategy. Kerry has tapped two veteran party strategists including John Sasso, a former Michael Dukakis's campaign manager, and Kerry reportedly had a long phone conversation about his campaign with former president Bill Clinton on Saturday.
