An Australian flag flies near a damaged building, following a blast outside the Australian Embassy in Jakarta (AP)
Jakarta Bombing Kills Eight
Story aired: Thursday, September 09, 2004

A huge car bomb outside the Australian embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia has left at least eight people dead and more than 160 people wounded in the same busy commercial district where the Marriott Hotel was bombed last year.

The blast comes just two days before the anniversary of September 11th attacks and just a few weeks ahead of elections in Indonesia and Australia, whose current leaders are among the strongest supporters of President Bush's war on terror.
