British, Irish Leaders Meet to End Stalemate

British Prime Minister Tony Blair and his Irish counterpart Bertie Ahern appealed today to the Irish Republican Army to disarm and disband.

They met with leaders of Northern Ireland's political parties in an attempt to end an ongoing stalemate and bring about a stable Protestant-Catholic government in Northern Ireland as required by the Good Friday agreement.
