Bush, Kerry Seek Boost From Final Debate
Story aired: Wednesday, October 13, 2004

No big mistakes. That's the hope of each candidate going into tonight's third and final presidential debate.

Polls are showing that President Bush lost ground to challenger John Kerry after the first two matches. Both candidates will try to appeal to the shrinking undecided vote.

Kerry adviser Joe Lockhart says even though the debate is supposed to focus on domestic policy, he expects the war in Iraq will come up, because his candidate is stronger on jobs, healthcare, energy and social security.

The Bush campaign yesterday unleashed new ads attacking the Kerry healthcare plan to cover the catastrophic health costs of Americans. And Senate Majority leader Bill Frist was dispatched to further the attack.

Joining us from the campaign trail is Richard Wolffe, political correspondent for Newsweek magazine.
