Plaintiffs in an employment discrimination lawsuit against Abercrombie & Fitch (AP)
Enforcing Diversity
Story aired: Friday, November 19, 2004

There's soon going to be a new look for Abercrombie and Fitch.

If you go to the website of the Ohio-based retailer you see beautiful young blonds modeling the preppy clothing that has been marketed so successfully to teens and 20-somethings but This week a group of young minority job applicants successfully sued the company. A judge approved a settlement that forces Abercrombie & Fitch to pay $40 million to prevent discrimination in its workforce and its marketing.

Under the settlement, Abercrombie & Fitch admits no wrongdoing. Company president and chief Operating Officer Bob Singer says the settlement will require a new way of thinking, but not much else.
