John Irving: "Widow for One Year"
Story aired: Monday, December 06, 2004

The characters in John Irving's best selling novel "A Widow for One Year" came to life on the big screen in "The Door in the Floor" this past summer and will be out on DVD next week. The film and novel tell the story of Marion and Ted Cole, played by Kim Basinger and Jeff Bridges, a married couple still in shock, three years after the deaths of their two teenage sons.

Author John Irving and director Tod Williams paid a visit to our studios just days before the movie came out. Here & Now's Robin Young asked Irving to respond to the fact that his book is over 700 pages long and about five hundred are missing from the movie.
