Violence Flares in Iraq
Story aired: Tuesday, January 04, 2005



The governor of Baghdad province in Iraq was assassinated by gunmen today, less than a month before the country's first democratic elections in nearly 50 years. Also today, a suicide bomber detonated his truck near the interior ministry headquarters in the western part of the city, killing at least ten. And five American soldiers were killed in two separate incidents around the country.
