Judge Picked for Homeland Security
Story aired: Tuesday, January 11, 2005

A former federal prosecutor with ties to the justice department has been nominated as the country's next homeland security chief. President Bush has named Michael Chertoff to replace outgoing department chief Tom Ridge.

The nomination comes after the president's first choice for the job, former New York police commissioner Bernard Kerik, withdrew his name following revelations of various scandals.
