BTK Suspect
Story aired: Monday, February 28, 2005

Residents of Wichita, Kansas are reeling from the news that a local municipal employee, who was an active member of the Lutheran Church, a former Boy Scout leader, and a married father of two, has been arrested for the notorious BTK murders --a string of brutal unsolved Kansas homicides dating back more than 30 years.

The man taken into custody is Dennis Rader, who by all accounts was an ordinary, if perhaps overbearing local code enforcer. But no one suspected that the man who lived and worked among them could be responsible for up to ten grisly deaths.

Wichita reporter Carla Eckels is covering the story for WMUW Radio.
