The NFL's Weight Problem

A new study conducted at the University of North Carolina has concluded that 56 percent of the players in the NFL are obese. The results of the study appear in the current issue of the journal of the American Medical Association.


Dr. Arthur Roberts, a retired heart surgeon and former NFL quarterback, has called the increasing size of pro-football players "a major concern." Bill Littlefield, host of the NPR program, Only a Game, asked Dr. Roberts about the science behind the results.
