Religious Education on the Rise
Story aired: Thursday, March 03, 2005

Religious higher education is on the rise in the United States.

Enrollment at the over 100 member institutions of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities jumped 60 percent in the last decade. Notre Dame broke all application records last year. And Utah based Brigham Young University has added an Idaho campus to its Hawaii branch.

What's going on? And who are the 1.3 million students graduating every year from over 700 religious schools in the U.S.?

Reporter Naomi Shaeffer Riley set out to answer these questions and the result is her new book: "God on the Quad: How Religious Colleges and the Missionary Generation are Changing America."

Guests:

Naomi Shaeffer Riley.
