Admissions Website Hacked Story aired: Tuesday, March 15, 2005
The company at the heart of a college admissions hacking controversy is looking into whether it should take legal action. The Virginia-based website apply yourself.com, used by many of the nation's elite business schools for admissions processes, was recently hacked into. Some applicants gained access, and may have been able get an early peek at their admissions decisions.
At least six business schools are affected and Harvard, MIT, and Carnegie Mellon now say they will reject any applicants who accessed their pages.
For a look at the ethical implications of this controversy, we turn to Randy Cohen, The New York Times magazine ethicist.
