Story aired: Wednesday, March 16, 2005

The nation's largest public works project is once again the source of controversy. The Big Dig, a $14.6 billion highway reconstruction project, has been remaking downtown Boston, and snarling traffic, for years. Now one engineer involved in the project says he cannot say with confidence that the project's spanking new tunnels are safe.

Now, Massachusetts Attorney General Thomas Reilly is opening a fraud investigation into Big Dig contractors.
And Governor Mitt Romney has renewed his effort to oust the chairman of the Turnpike Authority.
