Wildflowers bloom on the edge of the Badwater Basin at Death Valley National Park. (AP)
The Valley in Bloom...Death Valley
Story aired: Friday, April 15, 2005

It's considered the hottest and driest place in North America, but this year, California's Death Valley has seen a lot of rain.

So much so that sleeping seeds have woken up along the valley's floor and they're moving up along its sides. Death Valley is now full of life, covered with carpets of California poppies, evening primrose, and yellow pepperweed, just to name a few of the wildflowers making an appearance there now.

Guests:

Eileen Anderson, botanist with the California Native Plant Society.
