Faith and the Filibuster
Story aired: Monday, April 25, 2005

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist told religious conservatives that it is not radical to ask senators for an up or down vote on the president's long-stalled judicial nominees. Frist comments were televised during "Justice Sunday: Stop the Filibuster Against People of Faith" event held Sunday evening.

Event co-sponsor James Dobson of the group Focus on the Family made it clear that his followers are not just targeting Democrats. Dobson railed against the U.S. Supreme Court, seven of whose members were appointed by Republican presidents.

Guests:

Peter Wallsten, White House correspondent for the Los Angeles Times.

John Harwood is national political editor for the Wall Street Journal.
