Arizona Cardinals Pat Tillman in 2001. (AP)
Pat Tillman Report
Story aired: Wednesday, May 04, 2005

A new army report concludes that not only was former NFL player Pat Tillman killed by friendly fire while an army ranger in Afghanistan, but that there may also have been an attempt to conceal evidence about his death.

Tillman's body armor and uniform were burned immediately after his killing.

Tillman turned down a lucrative contract with the Arizona Cardinals to serve his country after 9/11. One investigator concluded that his death resulted from "gross negligence",and while Tillman's memorial service was held on May 3rd last year, the real circumstances of his killing were not released until May 29th.

Washington Post reporter Josh White has reported on newly released army report, saying it included some interviews with fellow soldiers who agonized over the shooting.
