Gogol Bordello
Gogol Bordello
Story aired: Thursday, June 16, 2005

Eugene Hutz is a name you may not know now, but we think you soon will. Born in Ukraine in 1972, as a child he heard the band sonic youth and knew that someday he would live in New York City and play punk rock. After Chernobyl blew, he fled with his family, moving through refugee camps just like his nomadic gypsy ancestors once crossed Russia.

Once he arrived in New York he became a trend setting fashion model and he is touring with the band of his childhood dreams, Gogol Bordello, quite possibly the only international gypsy slash punk rock band out there.

Guests:

Eugene Hutz, lead singer of Gogol Bordello.
