An Iraqi woman with children walks past the posters encouraging Iraqis to vote for the new constitution (AP)
Should the U.S. Stay or Go?
Story aired: Monday, August 29, 2005

Despite succesfully drafting a constitution, the Iraqi government is failing to gain the support of the Sunni Arab population. Even the constitution which failed to be drafted on time, is the center of ongoing controversy and will have to be voted on in the upcoming months.

The political storm begs the question of whether America still needs to play a role in Iraq. Andrew Bacevich, a retired army colonel, has argued that it's time for President Bush to pull out the troops. On the other side, Fred Kagan, an expert on military history, argues America needs to stay the course.

Guests:

Andrew Bacevich, director of the Center for International Relations at Boston University

Fred Kagan, resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute
