Bush Recognizes Aid Fell Short
Story aired: Friday, September 02, 2005

President Bush is acknowledging efforts to help the victims of hurricane Katrina have fallen short in response to withering criticism from the mayor of New Orleans and others who accused the administration of bungling the relief effort and leaving people to die in flooded streets for lack of food water or medicine.

Here and Now called a pay phone on Canal Street and spoke to two survivors: Noble Brown, father of five, and Thedora Herring, who with husband stayed in New Orleans when the hurricane hit.

They both talk about the desperate conditions on the ground and how they are getting by.

Guests:

Noble Brown, hurricane survivor

Thedora Herring, hurricane survivor
