Roberts Faces Senate
Story aired: Tuesday, September 13, 2005

Senators today are questioning John Roberts about, among other things, abortion and civil rights, and whether he would uphold previous Supreme Court rulings on those matters.

Senate Judiciary Committee Arlen Specter did not press Judge Roberts on whether Roberts would vote to overturn Roe v. Wade, but Specter, an abortion rights Republican, did ask Roberts if he supported a 1992 decision that upheld the precedent of Roe.

Guests:

Supreme Court reporter Lyle Denniston.
