Bob Dylan, 1965 (photo: Sony)
No Direction Home
Story aired: Monday, September 26, 2005

"I was born very far from where I'm supposed to be," so Bob Dylan says at the start of "No Direction Home," the new documentary of Dylan's early years from director Martin Scorsese. The film, airing tonight and tomorrow on PBS stations, is already available on DVD.

In the film, Scorsese provides a road map from Dylan's Midwestern hometown, through his rejection of the folk icon crown. Dylan himself narrates the story, as he did in his best selling "Chronicles Memoir." Tim Riley gives us the lowdown on the film and its impact.

Guests:

Tim Riley, Here and Now music critic
