Rory Carroll, Baghdad correspondent for the Guardian, was abducted by gunmen and then released after just a day.

Journalist and Filmmaker Micah Garen was kidnapped in Nasiriyah in August of 2004. He and his translator Amir were held for 10 days by a group loyal to Shiite cleric Muqtada al Sadr.

Micah and his partner, fellow filmmaker Marie Helene Carleton, who was already back in the U.S. when Micah was kidnapped tell the story in their new book: "American Hostage."
