Story aired: Wednesday, October 26, 2005

They're being called the dead sea scrolls and the Rosetta Stone of the jazz style called be-bop. Two new recordings by four jazz masters have only recently been discovered and released on CD.

Here and Now's jazz aficionado James Isaacs joins us to sing the praises of these treasures of modern jazz.

Note: Thelonious Monk Quartet with John Coltrane at Carnegie Hall on BlueNote Records "Nutty" was the music heard at the top of this piece; "Blue Monk" was played at the end.
