Study: Fiber Doesn' Fight Cancer
Story aired: Wednesday, December 14, 2005

A research team led by the Harvard School of Public Health has found that eating a lot of fiber-rich grains, fruits and vegetables does not appear to reduce a chance of getting colo-rectal cancer.

The study tests the popular belief that eating a high fiber diet is a good prevention strategy against the third most common form of cancer.

The study appears in Wednesday's Journal of the Amercan Medical Association, along with an editorial written by Doctor John Baron, internist at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, NH.
