Headphones and Hearing Loss
Story aired: Wednesday, January 11, 2006

Who guitarist Pete Townsend is now 60. He's still playing the guitar, but he's partially deaf, which he says was caused by years of listening to loud music through studio headphones. But hearing loss affects not only headbangers. Now, a whole new generation of portable audio owners may also be at risk.

So what to do about your iPod? And what should you do when you go to a concert?

Doctor Roland Eavey of the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and Harvard Medical School joins us in studio to talk about listening to loud music and hearing loss.
