The commericial fishing trade has hit troubled waters on the Pacific Northwest coast. Fish harvests are down, competition and regulations are up, and the independent fisherman is a dwindling breed.
Still, few professions are as romanticized as that of fishing.
For a small Oregon town, that romance meets reality at the annual Fisher Poets Conference. This year marks the eighth gathering of full-time fishermen and part-time poets.
