Times Reporter on NSA Spying
Story aired: Friday, February 10, 2006

Bush administration officials briefed members of the Senate Intelligence Committee on the the domestic surveillance program Thursday. Senator Jay Rockefeller, the ranking Democrat on the Senate committee, is still calling for a full inquiry, while Republicans are saying many of their concerns have been accounted for.

New York Times reporters James Risen and Eric Lichtblau broke the story about the National Security Agency in December. The New York Times waited a year before running the story and then published it just as James Risen's new book detailing the program was due to come out. The title of his book is " State of War: The Secret History of the CIA and the Bush Administration."

Robin Young speaks with James Risen.
