Mosque Bombing Begets More Violence
Story aired: Friday, February 24, 2006

In Iraq, this week has been marked by some of the worst violence between Sunnis and Shiites since the U.S. invasion.

At least 130 people, mostly Sunni Arabs, have been killed in retaliation for Wednesday's bombing of one of the most sacred sites for the Shiite Muslims, the Al-Askariya Mosque in Samarra.

On Friday, the U.S. ambassador to Iraq warned that the future of the country is at stake. A rare day-time curfew seems to be helping keep a lid on more attacks.
