Rakan's War
Story aired: Wednesday, March 01, 2006

Twelve-year-old Rakan Hassan was basically paralyzed by his wounds after American soldiers mistakenly fired on his family's car, killing his parents.

Dr. Laurence Ronan of Massachusetts General Hospital brought the young boy to Boston for the treatment he needed. This week, the Boston Globe published a series highlighting the boy's story. The final part of that series appeared in the Globe today.

Dr. Ronan escorted Rakan Back to his home in Iraq just a few weeks ago. He joins Here and Now in the studio.
