Children's Blizzard Story aired: Friday, March 10, 2006
This ferocious storm that blasted down across the Dakotas and Nebraska on January 12, 1888 is known as the "Children's Blizzard" because many of the hundreds of lives it claimed were children.
Children who were quickly lost in the blinding whiteout conditions after leaving their one room schoolhouses.
Writer David Laskin paints an intimate portrait of the pioneer era in his book "The children's Blizzard" and he joins us from the studios of KUOW in Seattle.
