Iraq Invasion Anniversary
Story aired: Monday, March 13, 2006

With the third anniversary of the U.S. led invasion of Iraq less than a week away, President Bush plans to spend the coming days convincing Americans that progress is being made in the war-torn region.

Today's speech at George Washington University comes on the heels of an announcement today that Great Britain plans to cut its troop strength in the region by ten percent by May -- a reduction of more than 800 people.

The speeches also come as sectarian violence in Iraq mounts. Ipsos, a new associated press, polled that seven out of ten Republicans and nine out of ten Democrats believe a full-blown civil war is likely in Iraq.

Linda Feldman, reporter for the Christian Science Monitor
