Striving for Stem Cells

Just months after South Korean cloning researcher Hwang Woo Suk faced charges of fraud for false claims that he had developed stem cells from cloned human embryos, researchers at Children's Hospital in Boston and Harvard University announce the launch of their programs to create disease-specific human embryonic stem cells.

Harvard University announced today that it has received the necessary clearance to begin using what is known as somatic cell nuclear transfer, or therapeutic cloning, to create disease-specific stem cell lines.
