In a recent article for "Wired Magazine," contributing editor Jeff Howe, dubbed the phenomenon "crowdsourcing."

In the last year websites have appeared that allow amateurs to perform some of the work generally relegated to highly trained professionals in fields ranging from television production to science research and development.

This new pool of workers is willing to work for far less and could potentially replace some fulltime professionals.

Jeff Howe along with Dr. Alpheus Bingham, president and CEO of Innocentive, a company that posts problems facing the scientific community online, join us to discuss the phenomenon and how it may help the scientific community crack some of its toughest problems.
