Since the invention of air conditioners, heat related deaths have declined and people are able to live comfortably in the hottest regions. And, today, nearly four-fifths of US homes have AC units. Gail Cooper, author of "Air-conditioning America: Engineers and the Controlled Environment, 1900-1960" joins us to discuss how the invention of the air conditioner changed our lives.
