Terence Blanchard and "Requiem" Story aired: Friday, August 18, 2006
Thousands of crescent city residents got an advanced viewing of Spike Lee's film "Requiem" at the New Orleans arena this week. The film was emotional for many who wiped away tears or booed loudly when President Bush and other government officials appeared on screen.
"Requiem" has been called candid and graphic. Those interviewed are unflinching in their criticism of the Bush administration's response to the tragedy. Director Spike Lee said he felt obligated to make the film.
Musician and composer Terence Blanchard has written film scores for 13 Spike Lee films, including this one. This time he steps in front of the camera too. Robin Young reached Terence in London during his band's European tour.
