Class and Health
Story aired: Friday, August 18, 2006

When it comes to your health, apparently even a little extra income can make a difference.

While several researchers have recognized a link between extreme poverty and poor health, a new study says middle-class Americans are more likely to suffer from a health-related disability than their wealthier counterparts.

The study appears in this week's New England Journal of Medicine and the lead author is Dr. Meredith Minkler, professor of health and public behavior at the School of Public Health at the university of California Berkeley.
