Afghanistan Update
Story aired: Monday, September 11, 2006

NATO forces which replaced U.S. forces in Afghanistan this summer are reportedly surprised by the strength of the Taliban insurgency there. This year roadside bomb attacks have doubled and suicide bomb attacks have tripled, including one that killed a governor and important ally of Afghan President Hamid Karzai yesterday.

We speak with David Rhode, who recently returned from Afghanistan. Rhode reports for The New York Times.
