Palestinian Violence Worsens
Story aired: Wednesday, December 13, 2006

There is more chaos in the Gaza Strip today after the brazen daytime murder of a Hamas official. The killing is apparently in response to this week's killings of three young boys whose father is a senior Fatah intelligence official. The boys where on their way to school in their father's car when as many as 15 gunmen opened fire.

Hamas has denied responsibility, but the violence has lead to concerns that the Palestinians are on the verge of civil war. It has also diminished any hopes of a unity government between the ruling Hamas party and Fatah, the party founded by Yassir Arafat.
