President Ford's Comments on Iraq War Story aired: Thursday, December 28, 2006
Former president Gerald Ford never criticized the Bush White House publicly while he was alive. But in death, the late president offers some sharp rebukes of President Bush's reasons for going to war in Iraq.
The Washington Post today published excerpts of interviews the late president gave to the Post's Bob Woodward dating back to 2004. Ford asked that the interviews not be printed until after his death.
In the interviews, President Ford said he felt strongly that the Bush Administration made a big mistake in justifying the war in Iraq by putting the emphasis on weapons of mass destruction.
We analyze the fallout from the remarks as President Bush meets with high level cabinet officials at his ranch in Crawford, Texas.
