Bush to Name New Military Command
Story aired: Friday, January 05, 2007

The president is expect to tap General David Petraeus as the top ground commander in Iraq, replacing General George Casey. Petraeus is a Princeton educated officer know as a warrior-scholar. He was in charge of training Iraqi police before being reassigned last year to oversee the Army's top military colleges at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

That move was widely seen as side-lining a potential Pentagon skeptic, but when we spoke to Petraeus last spring he described how he was leading a move by the Army to train soldiers to question authority, something called "designated skeptics."

Guests:

Lt. Gen. David Petraeus

Seth Molten, special assistant to Petraeus in Iraq
