"Angel of The Garbage Dump" Story aired: Tuesday, February 13, 2007
Hanley Denning went to Guatemala City in 1997 to learn Spanish, but she ended up staying, because she found her life's calling in the city's dump helping the adults and children who make a pitiful living picking through the city's fetid refuse.
Denning's work was featured in the film "Recycled Life," which was nominated for an Oscar in January. But just five days before the nomination were announced, she was killed in a car accident.
